books that invite audience participation, books the promote the five parent
practices (talking, singing, writing, playing, and reading), books based on
songs and nursery rhymes, books that promote preliteracy skills and
kindergarten readiness, and websites useful to storytime planning.
At the end of this one-hour webinar,
participants will have learned about many new books that can be included in
storytimes, including:
- Cumulative, circular, sing-along, and
audience participation books that enliven storytimes
- Books that promote the Five Parent
Practices to add parent learning to your storytimes
- Books that promote preliteracy skills
and kindergarten readiness, with ideas for related hands-on activities

the families we serve

Time: Pacific - 12 Noon, Mountain - 1 PM, Central - 2 PM, Eastern - 3 PM
Description: Like most of us, who pay even a little

technologies?
As part of the continuing Emerging Tech
Trends series, presenter Laura Solomon takes a look at: augmented reality,
evolving social media, changing wearables and chatbots. She will discuss what
these technologies might mean (or not) for libraries. We can't track
everything, but we can pick out some patterns in what's happening around us.
At the end of this one-hour webinar,
participants will:
- Be familiar with 3 or more emerging
technology trends in 4 different categories.
- Be aware of how some emerging
technologies may affect libraries
- Learn some specific areas of emerging
technology that libraries should likely focus their efforts on
This webinar will be of interest to:
Staff in all types of libraries interested in emerging technology trends and

"Making Data More Powerful"
Date & Time: October 26th, 2016. Start
Time: Pacific - 12 Noon, Mountain - 1 PM, Central - 2 PM, Eastern - 3 PM.
Description:
- Does the data you collect provide the
meaningful information you need to design and deliver your library services,
and satisfy your funders' needs?
- Do you want to capture not just the
number of visits, but the unique number of individual users your library
serves?
- Do you want the ability to track other
key metrics across programs and services?
This webinar will introduce a newly
designed, Cloud-based, open-source, and inexpensive program for data collection
that enables libraries to track unduplicated counts and other unique key
metrics. It was developed and piloted by the El Dorado County Library and will
be available for any interested library wishing to customize it for their own
data collection purposes, as part of a California State Library toolkit to
be released in December 2016. The User Interface is easy to use and is
professionally developed. Multiple levels of user access allow data
manipulation and preservation within the system without compromising data
integrity. Please join us to learn more.
At the end of this one-hour webinar,
participants will:
- Understand the unique data collection
capabilities of this open-source software and the needed infrastructure
requirements to support it.
- Determine if this software program can
fulfill their data collection needs.
- Be inspired to think about data in a
new way.
This webinar will be of interest to: all
library staff interested in or responsible for data collection and utilization.

ball but they do share five characteristics that encourage positive results,
regardless of what the world throws their way. Learn how to activate these
characteristics in your library, including low cost/no cost tips that apply to
any size of library or community. Give your library a new lease on life and
revitalize excitement about your services.

project and time management skills are key. Regardless of your job title, and
whether working with a small team or a library-wide technology committee, anyone
can learn smart practices to keep everything, and everyone, in motion and on
target.
