9th, 2015. Start Time: Pacific - 12 Noon, Mountain - 1 PM,
Central - 2 PM, Eastern - 3 PM
Description: Like most of
us, who pay even a little attention to recent developments in technology,
you're likely overwhelmed by the sheer amount of information and progress. With
so much coming at us so fast, keeping up is difficult. Business models are
changing rapidly, mobile-first is becoming mobile-only, and social media is a
maturing medium yet, even so, the rules are evolving.
In this webinar, we're
going to distill recent advances in technology into some overarching trends
that we should be keeping our eyes on. We can't track everything, but in this
webinar we can pick out some patterns in what's happening around us.
At the end of this
one-hour webinar, participants will:
* Be familiar with at
least ten (10) emerging technology trends
* Know some key questions
to ask when evaluating a new technology
* Be familiar with the
Gartner Hype Cycle
This first in a series of
4 webinars will be of interest to staff in all types of libraries interested in
emerging technology trends and how they might affect libraries and/or their
patrons.

"Changes Are Coming
To How You Manage Your EBSCO Collections"
Date & Time: 08
December 2015. 12:00 – 13:00 Eastern Daylight Time, Australia [UTC +11]
Description:
OCLC is pleased to
announce that the way you manage your EBSCO collections will be more
streamlined with the incorporation of record deliveries into WorldShare
Collection Manager. Since your library currently receives WorldCat MARC records
for EBSCO titles, we will provide access to Collection Manager to manage your
EBSCO records.
Developed based on
library feedback, the functionality available in Collection Manager offers you
all of the options currently available and more, including:
* Automatic MARC record
delivery with ongoing updates
* Customized record
editing options
* Customized record
delivery scheduling
* Delete records if
titles are removed from your holdings
* Automatic holdings
maintenance (requires a qualifying OCLC cataloging subscription)
The current service to
manage your EBSCO collections will be discontinued after 31 March
2016. You will receive a future communication to inform you when your
collections are available and how to enable MARC record delivery in Collection
Manager.
In this webinar, you will
learn how to:
* Create a WorldShare
account (if you don’t already have one)
* Set up your EBSCO
profile in Collection Manager
* Enable MARC record
delivery for EBSCO titles
* Define record editing
and delivery options for your EBSCO titles
"Simplifying circulation
and course reserves: A detailed demonstration in WorldShare Circulation"
Date & Time: 09 December 2015. 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM Eastern Standard Time,
North America [UTC -5]
Description: During
this one-hour detailed demonstration of WorldShare Management Services, you
will learn how you can streamline all of your circulation tasks through a
single, Web-based interface. You’ll also learn how your library operations can
be performed on any tablet, laptop, smartphone or device with a Web browser. The
portability of these devices means you can more easily complete tasks, such as
inventory, because you carry out the tasks in your library’s stacks.
Circulation: You
will see how to easily use the account management functions, including
check-in, check-out and renewals, as well as integrated hold and fine
management. We will demonstrate how the services track availability and holds
in real time, enabling you to generate a pull list on demand.
Course Reserves: You
will see how easy it is for anyone, including student workers, to create and
duplicate a list, and store everything electronically.
