أدوات استخدمها المكتبيون حول العالم 1!

السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته،

السادة زوار المدونة الكرام، كما تم الاعلان مسبقاً عن تخصيص سلسلة مقالات بالمدونة تحت عنوان "أدوات استخدمها المكتبيون حول العالم" يعرض من خلالها أخصائيو المكتبات من مختلف البلدان خبراتهم وتجاربهم مع الأدوات والبرامج المكتبية سواء كانت أدوات وبرامج  جاهزة أو أدوات وبرامج ابتكروها بأنفسهم ويسرت عليهم عملهم بالمكتبة ومن ثم يستفيد منها باقي الزملاء والزميلات الأفاضل.  نفتتح هذا الباب بمقال الأستاذ عبد الله عوض الكريم حاج المختار، مساعد أمين مكتبة بجامعة أم درمان الإسلامية".

السادة زوار المدونة الكرام، يسعدني أن أعلن لحضراتكم عن "المركز العربي للبحوث والدراسات في علوم المكتبات والمعلومات ACRSLIS"، وهو مركز افتراضي يدعم حركة الوصول المفتوح Open Access والمجانية. انشأه ويديره الأستاذ علي حسين السمير، الباحث في وزارة الثقافة السورية والحاصل على درجة الماجستير في الآداب من قسم المكتبات والمعلومات بكلية الآداب - جامعة القاهرة. مع مجموعة من شباب المكتبات. ويشرف على المركز لفيف من كبار الأساتذة وأعضاء هيئة التدريس . وهو مُتاح من خلال الرابط التالي: http://acrslis.weebly.com/

الوصول لمصاف المراكز المتقدمة في مجال ابتكار وتطوير البحوث الاساسية والتطبيقية في علوم المكتبات وتقنية المعلومات، وتحفيز وتمكين الاكاديميين والمهنيين العرب المختصين في المكتبات والمعلومات ليساهموا بفاعلية في ايجاد بيئة قادرة على خلق جيل من الباحثين المتميزين في مجال المكتبات والمعلومات.

أهداف المركز:

 
أ- اجراء البحوث والدراسات النظرية والتطبيقية في المكتبات والوثائق وتقنية المعلومات.

 
ب- تقديم الدعم والمساندة للباحثين في مجال المكتبات والمعلومات ودعم لبحوثهم ودراساتهم العلمية.

 
ج- نقل الخبرات والمعارف والعلوم الحديثة في مجال المكتبات وتقنية المعلومات.

 
د- تقديم الاستشارات العلمية  للمكتبات ومؤسسات المعلومات.

 
هـ- الإسهام في نشر الوعي بأهمية علم المكتبات وتقنية المعلومات.

 
و- توحيد الجهود وتنسيقها في النشاطات المختلفة ذات الصلة بقضايا المكتبات وتقنية المعلومات وبما يحقق أهداف المركز.

هذا ولقد بدأ المركز في تحقيق أول خطواته العلمية في  مجال المكتبات حيث تم ولله الحمد إصدار أول عدد من الدورية العلمية المحكمة والمتاحة من خلال صفحة الدورية الرئيسة:

ويدعوا المركز الباحثين والمتخصصين في مجال المكتبات والمعلومات بالمساهمة في العدد الثاني.

نقلاً عن الزميلة الفاضلة الأستاذة/ هبة إسماعيل، المدير الفني بجمعية الرعاية المتكاملة، منحة لحضور مؤتمر الإفلا الثمانون المقام في مدينة ليون بفرنسا في الفترة من 16 – 22 أغسطس 2014، وفيما يلي التفاصيل: 

Closing date: Friday February 28th, 2014!

The Academic and Research Libraries Section (ARL), with generous sponsorship by ExLibris and Sage, is offering THREE (3) Attendance Grants for the IFLA Congress in Lyon 2014 to an information professional from each of these regions:

* Africa
* Latin America
* Asia/Pacific region

Each grant covers the registration fee of Euro 455 as well as support for travel and/or accommodation up to Euro 700.  

Applicants must be able to attend the Congress and will be responsible for all other costs associated with Congress attendance. Please see the Conference website for further details about the Congress.

The winners will be required to attend the IFLA Awards session to receive their certificates, and also attend the ARL’s Hot Topics session.
They will also be required to take part in various publicity events during the conference, such as photo shoots and events organised at the two sponsors’ exhibition stalls. Their essays may be published on the ARL Section blog before the conference.

Recipients will be required to write a brief article about their Congress experience (approximately 500 words) for publication on the ARL Section blog within 3 months of the end of the Congress.

Eligibility:

* Applicants must be eligible to obtain a visa for travel.

* Applicants must declare they are able to fund all other costs beyond the grant that are involved in attending the Congress, e.g. all other hotel, travel and subsistence expenses  NOT covered by the Grant.

* Those who have previously received this Grant (formerly known as Essay Contest) cannot apply again.

Application Procedures:

Your application will include:

(A)  A covering letter providing:

*your contact details (e.g. name and email address)

*short summary of your employment and/or student status

First-time IFLA attendees, young professionals, students of Library and Information Studies (LIS) and those working in LIS jobs for the first time will have an advantage in the competition, so make sure you mention this if you belong to one of these categories.

(B)  A written statement of up to 500 words, on:

* how attending IFLA will benefit you in a personal and/or professional capacity, with reference to the 2014 theme of the conference;

* how you intend to apply the benefits that you have outlined in a practical way after the Congress, either for you personally or for the library/information unit you work in;

* a budget/cost estimate for travel and hotel up to Euro 700, that would not normally be funded by other grants or your place of work.

(C)  A declaration that you are able to fund all other costs beyond the Grant when attending the Congress, and that you are eligible to obtain a visa for travel

Your application must be received by Friday February 28th, 2014

* All applications will be acknowledged upon receipt

* All applicants will receive notification of award status no later thanMay 1, 2014

DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS: Monday, March 3, 2014
A key goal of the NEXT Library Conference is to build an international community of library innovators who are imagining and creating public libraries that serve people’s learning and information needs in the 21st century. To ensure that NEXT includes robust and diverse participation from throughout the world, scholarship support is available to support travel and conference registration fees for one week of conference attendance in Chicago.
Scholarship award winners will be invited to arrive in Chicago on Wednesday, June 18th and depart on Thursday, June 26th. Attendees may choose to continue to the Annual Conference of the American Library Association (ALA) held immediately following in Las Vegas, Nevada from June 26 to July 1.
Applicant Eligibility:
Scholarships will be awarded on a competitive basis. Applicants must meet the following requirements:
*Be a library professional from an under-resourced country with 3 to 8 years of work experience.
*Are currently employed full-time in a public library or library support organization.
*Be an emerging leader who will contribute to and benefit from the NEXT conference as well as remain active in the international NEXT Library community of practice following the conference.
*Can contribute actively to the rich discussion, experimentation and hands-on activities.
*Have sufficient English language skills to fully participate in conference activities.

*Can demonstrate how they will share what they have learned to strengthen their public library and community.

*Provide a written endorsement from library and/or community leadership.

Scholarship Support
Each scholar will be awarded up to USD $4,500.00 based on need and anticipated cost of international airfare from the home country. In extraordinary cases, all travel costs may be supported. Preference will be given to candidates who are living and working in under-resourced countries.

“Street Lit and Libraries”

Description: For the last 15 years, public and high school libraries have been exploring the under-reviewed and small press produced genre of street lit. It is most often passed hand to hand or through publishing parties held by the authors, and often appeals to readers with interests outside the majority culture. With increasing amounts of professional discussions now available on the strengths and challenges street lit collections can offer your library’s users, it’s time to look at the appeal that holds for readers.

Street lit is not without its controversies. Learning why and how some libraries have decided to include it in their collections will help your library decide whether it’s feasible and appropriate for your community. Knowing how your community may react to its inclusion in your library will increase your value as the community’s readers’ advisor and/or fiction collection developer.

“Responsive Web Design: another option for mobile websites”

Description: How do we deal with optimizing our websites for mobile? Create a standards-compliant website that we hope will be usable on mobile devices? Responsive web design allows you to create a single site, but optimize it for different levels or sizes of devices. This is done based on the use of CSS Media Queries.
